Hero Return · review
Honestly, 12 episodes for this series is too low. In both the manhua and the novel, this is basically just the introduction, setting up a lot of the characters and how they interact. If you're here for an actual complete story, I recommend you read the entire thing instead of watching this. There's just too little runtime in this adaptation to really get things going. As for the animation, I can't praise it enough. Especially during the fighting scenes, this show really delivers and keeps you glued to the screen. The music and sound design really adds well to this. The characters themselves are fairly stereotypical, buttheir powers and personalities are very broad and make for great chemistry, and opens up a lot of room for good jokes, though these are very limited to the anime adaptation.
I think this show is best enjoyed after reading the source material, because it's just not enough to be enjoyable on its own in the earlier parts of the story. If multiple story arcs are getting adaptations it may be interesting enough to watch standalone, but for now I wouldn't recommend it.
