Review of Devilman: Crybaby

….I didn’t like Devilman Crybaby; for a slew of reasons….but I’m going to ignore all of that; which is practically every episode up until 9. Needless to say, there will be spoilers. To everyone who hates the story, I’m right there with you….but I really want to talk about the characters. Most notably….a group of people that I’ll simply describe as a character. Humans. Fucking monsters. In the context of the show this is apparent from the opening scene; but episode 9 really got to me with how disgusting they can really be….how fear, a lack of understanding, and an unwillingness to learn and accept makesus the most horrid, despicable creatures in our known world.
Devilman aside I really want to talk about the people who’ve also watched Devilman in its entirety; again focusing on episode 9. Why is this hardly being talked about? Something so sickening but so true to the human experience; it’s been drowned in sexuality, shock, and shounen tropes. The end of episode 9 left me utterly sick to my stomach. Not only at the scene within in the show….but with the people who’ve looked me in the eyes, smiled, and urged me to watch Devilman Crybaby.
How many other people felt the way I did when seeing that scene? It was such a sharp, disgusting turn from the mediocre sex crazed anime that it was before. But no one addresses the fact that it’s even there….do people not even think about the media they consume anymore? It’s like they do nothing but sit and soak up all the violence, the sex, the depravity without batting an eye. Lapping it up like fucking animals….only to respond to it by saying “that scene got me,” “I nearly cried,” “R.I.P. Miki”
Are you fucking serious? The people who don’t react strongly to this scene….are insane, in my opinion; but I can understand it. But those who go around propagate this show without pointing out how it’s disgusting and gruesome in this scene alone to anyone who they think will enjoy it….is a fucking monster; no different from Hie or any of the mindless animals dancing with the severed limbs of people who they knew where human.
(P.S. fuck anyone who cheered while Sirene was literally raped and anyone who actually likes and or sympathizes with Ryo. He’s a piece of shit and literally fucking Satan. The world would be better off without people like you.)
