I can’t believe how much I loved this anime!!! I went in a clean slate with no expectations. Upon watching the first episode, I came to the conclusion that Devilman crybaby was going to be a whole lot of WTF with no backstory. I COULDN’T BE MORE WRONG! The WTF counter remained high throughout the series, however the story that developed genuinely amazed me. Although not entirely unpredictable, there were twists that came from nowhere, making the plot unique and captivating. Unfortunately, I can’t give it a perfect score. It felt a little rushed, especially towards the end. This meant some characters lacked development and therefore dimension, andthe ending left me feeling a little numb. Like a roller coaster ride that went quicker than expected.

As for art and sound, both were beautifully executed, and notably original. The art style is defined and attractively coloured, even in the most dark or trivial scenes.

This anime was like a drug. I rarely write reviews, but I was left wanting more. Saying that, the denouement, although rushed, was beautiful, and perfectly brought the series to an end. I feel continuing into another series would feel cheep, and corrupt the story line. I’m addicted to this anime.
