Review of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story
Story: Has a really interesting concept. The build up to the finale was somewhat decent. Not really much to say about it, the whole of idea of it was pretty awesome at first sight. Art: Really nice, as expected of shaft. Episode 13 really did well. Sound: good character: OH MY GOD. The characters!! Why are there so many characters? It makes the story hard to follow, and there was hardly any fleshing out of any of them. This is one of the biggest differences between Magia Record and Madoka Magica. Even Madoka wasn't as boring as Iroha, and she was pretty boring as an individual. Craftingthe identity of each important character is so crucial and shaft really just didn't do a good job on this. How is someone suppose to care about a show when they can't care about the characters. I mean does anyone here really care about Iroha?
Enjoyment: Personally, I still enjoyed it, just got confused at some times because of all the different things that happen. Especially because there were so many characters to remember. Still, interesting enough that I will watch the second season.
Overall: All I can say is, it could've been better. If shaft just works on fleshing out the characters more next season it'll be a lot more better, although really they should've focused on that this season. It's no where near the greatness of Puella Magi Madoka Magika but it has potential to be somewhat good. Though, it doesn't look like Magia Record will be able to step out of the shadow of Puella but we'll see.
