Review of Attack on Titan

English The beginning of the series is intriguing, presenting a cruel world that, at the same time, generates constant anxiety and fear. My perception is that Isayama sought to go straight to the action, which made it, at times, plastic. A good example of this is how he builds the groups involved, especially Levi's squad and the people who formed with Eren at the beginning. However, I consider this beginning deficient because it leaves aside the fact that the protagonist is our eyes in this universe. The formation of the bonds between him and the other characters is not presented to the viewer. At severalmoments, the series uses events to demonstrate the cruelty of this universe, but we are not able to fully feel it due to the lack of a relevant prior construction.

In the end, this season ends up benefiting greatly from the excellent direction, both for its more cinematic approach and the exquisite editing of the scenes.

O início da obra é intrigante, apresentando um mundo cruel que, ao mesmo tempo, gera constante ansiedade e medo. Minha percepção é que Isayama buscou ir diretamente para a ação, o que a tornava, por vezes, plástica. Um bom exemplo disso é como ele constrói os núcleos dos grupos envolvidos, principalmente o esquadrão do Levi e as pessoas que se formaram com Eren no início.

No entanto, considero esse começo deficiente por deixar de lado o fato de que o protagonista é nossos olhos nesse universo. A formação dos laços entre ele e os demais personagens não é apresentada ao espectador. Em diversos momentos, a obra utiliza eventos para demonstrar a crueldade desse universo, mas não somos capazes de senti-la plenamente pela ausência de uma construção prévia relevante.

No fim das contas, esta temporada acaba sendo muito beneficiada pela excelente direção, tanto por sua abordagem mais cinematográfica quanto pela edição primorosa das cenas.
