Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero

Very strong premise and the first couple of episodes promised a story about antihero versus the uncaring world, but slowly, bit by bit, the show changed into more or less typical hero journey bathed in isekai and fantasy tropes. Which in and of itself is not bad, but after the gut-punching prologue, I hoped for something much more daring and creative, that will take its time to tell a complex and interesting story of the guy turned bad guy, forced to do just deeds. There is a lot of good pieces here and there, characters are lovely and the overall story has its twists andturns, from time to time encouraging me to still watching the show, but after the last ending my only reaction was "it was ok I guess. I probably will not buy the light novels".
