Story (7/10): The show focused on 3 main plot points. The growth of both the MC and his love for aircrafts, the love story of the MC and a story of war an conflict (or antiwar and conflict to be precise). The show suffered from a major pacing issue that was caused by the amount of story it wanted to tell in the 2 hours it got. Some story points were stretched too long and some didn't get the time it needed to be told (for example: they introduced that German guy who talked about the German scientist "situation" but then went no further with that)The conclusion of the story didn't really click with me (especially the romance side which laked the necessary emotions that were present during the development "the telegram scene")
The dream sequences offered some nice symbolism.

Characters (6/10):
They show only cared to develop one single character which is the MC with a good amount of progress both mentally and emotionally while the other characters didn't get the same treatment and felt kind "Just there to serve their propose" even the romantic interest "Naoko" was not developed enough.

Art and Animation (8/10):
Like most Studio Ghibli movies it offer a very beautiful and colorful environments just a lot of breathtaking scenery all around. Character design was the same as every other Ghibli as well even the "Hair that got nerve endings in it" :D
Animations an movements were top notch everything felt so alive even the inanimate stuff (which is kind of a conflicted thing to say) but everything was always in motion like waves.
On the other hand the movie kind of looked super dated in some scenes especially when it came to depth perspective and size relativity i mean this was released in 2013 these stuff should not have happened. I get the need to keeping the Ghibli feeling and being true to the fans and all that but this is just ridiculous.

Music & VA (8/10):
The music was quite nice and helped with building and delivering the scenes of the movie, matching with the situation just perfectly.
I have watched the Dub for this one and it was solid even though it sounded awkward at some scenes (don't know if it was intentional or by mistake) but the dub was decent nonetheless

Effectiveness (7/10):
The movie was good but really flawed definitely not the best Ghibli movie i have seen. Still it was a nice ride.

Overall (7.2/10)
