Review of Akira

The reason I rated this a 4 was because I read the manga before watching the movie and I had high expectations. I LOVED the manga and the film did not do it justice. Characters come in too early, some characters are taken out, some are shown for a few seconds when they have major roles in the manga. I understand the AKIRA manga would be difficult to adapt into a single movie, but I was just disappointed. Disregarding the manga, I think this movie is beautiful! The detailed animation, great voice acting, and funky soundtrack are all very cool. I'm sure people who haven’t read themanga can enjoy this movie like it’s supposed to be enjoyed but I could not. If you’re reading this review to wonder if you should watch it, I highly recommend reading the manga first because it blows the movie out of the water!

If you don’t care about manga accuracy like I do, go ahead and watch it! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it :)
