Review of Gintama
When I first started watching this series- I wasn't very intrigued by the plot or characters, it's animation is from 2006 and was a long running series so animation wasn't super beautiful. However, as I finished 20 episodes I decided that I shouldn't look for those badass actions scenes I saw on youtube. I decided to just focus and enjoy everything. As I consumed episode after episode, I learned that each character is unique despite their flaws. Before I knew it I was done with 100,150, and 201. These 201 episodes were one hell of a ride, I laughed and cried. Story The story is told inepisodes and mini arcs, usually around 1-4 episodes (some more). The pacing is excellent, not too fast and not too slow. It's amazing how short episode stories can cause tears of laughter and sadness because of how well developed the characters are. The more "serious" arcs are a great switch up from the usual comedy episodes. They offer intense fight scenes and well-written character dialogue. One of the magics of Gintama is how unexpected and creative it is. You can witness your favorite characters fight over screen time and popularity polls.
Art
The art started off not very well. However, as the story progresses the manga and the anime's art both improve drastically.
Sound
The openings and the ost of this series are really well done. Really work well with the comedic and serious scenes.
Character
These series have some of my favorite characters that I have become really attached to. Some of my favorites are the silver hair samurai, china girl, glasses, sadist, gorilla, mayo addict, and many more.
Enjoyment
Definitely a perfect score. It had some of the funniest and saddest scenes I have watched. It has references to many animes and medias. The actions scenes were really well done, you won't have to worry about sitting through two episodes of a ninja charging a tailed beast bomb. The fights are quick, brutal, and moves quickly.
Overall
Definitely, one of the rarest shows ever created. The creativity is just amazing. Also, the characters are all amazing and loveable. Even the villains. I highly recommend giving this show a try if you have a good knowledge of animes to understand the jokes, and you're not looking for some edgy blood everywhere show. Gintama is a masterpiece
