Kago Shintarou Anime Sakuhin Shuu · review
It's a very strange exploration of avant-garde, Eroguro, absurdist horror/comedy that even I can barely wrap my head around. It is, however, very unique and will leave you with quite the impression. It has anti-war themes present in episodes 10(?) and 13. 10 shows the innate human desire to manipulate the world's energies from helpful tools into weapons of war, mirroring the Japanese people's collective trauma of WWII. 13 imagines if weapons became funny, harmless items instead, almost as a foil to episode 10. The depiction of Buddha in this series is extremely sacrilegious, raising questions about why we perceive our religious figures as "above" ournatural human desires. Why do they mirror our insecurities back at us, though we never question it?
It also has a bunch of random dumb gore jokes that made me giggle. So, you ask, is this an avant-garde masterpiece or is it a massive shitpost? I believe Kago's point here is, "Why not both?" And it is up to you, dear watcher, to decide which one...
