Review of High School DxD

Wow! I was not expecting this to be this good. Review below is no spoilers, and also covers all of the DxD sequels. TLDR: This anime is the reigning king of harem anime for me right now (I feel compelled to watch the Monogatari series now just to see how it compares) so if harem anime aren't your thing, stop reading here and walk away. If you like yourself a good, fun, harem anime spectacle then this anime is a MUST for you my friend. Also, if you're gonna watch this, watch the English dub, I cannot say enough of how hilarious the English dub is,dub deniers be damned!

Let's get the obvious out of the way first. Harem anime = fan service right? Holy hell does this anime deliver on the fan service. You will get what you are looking for and much much more. Few anime I have seen have as many quality high definition waifus as this anime does. If that's enough for you then awesome, you're gonna love this anime, but wait there's more!

The characters, story, action and even the romance in this harem anime are all top notch. The basic premise of a high school occult club filled full of devil girls and an unwitting protagonist are entertaining enough of a premise on their own, but when you see just how much care and creativity goes into developing each individual character you will find yourself attached to this group in a much deeper way than just skin and comedic gags.

This anime even touches on themes of religious tolerance that I wasn't expecting at all, and does it well. Yea, a fan service anime does religious tolerance right! Come on dude?!

All in all, I had heard this anime was good but I lagged on starting it, ecchi and harem anime are very hit or miss for me and this one was a solid bullseye. It has everything you would look for in a harem comedy and so much more. I laughed my ass off throughout, I felt attached to each individual girl, I even for the life of me cheered for our clueless harem pervert protagonist, if you can believe that.
