Review of High School DxD

watched this as one of my first anime after being jokingly recommended by a friend, and boy oh boy did it defy my expectations, I was expecting your run of the mill hentai esc slop with no plot and loads of fanservice but this really surprised me. the world building is so creative and all the characters, while following the harem anime stereotypes are still decently well written and interesting. staring with the mc Issei, who has the greatest goal in all of anime. not to be pirate king or to become the strongest but to be a harem king! in all seriousness i think isseiis one of my favorite mc's due to just how silly and goofy he is while still being the chronic gooner type. the girls in the show (mostly) have their reasons to fall in love with issei and are decently enjoyable, though i didn't like how asia was always the damsel in distress and always needed saving.

in terms of plot i found most of the first three seasons really enjoyable due to how creative the world building is (like i mentioned this was one of my first anime) the environments were cool and well animated and the villains and rivals to issei felt like an actual threat, im going to try to avoid any details that might spoil it but there was a lot of different representation of Norse Christian and possibly some greek mythology

for the review i tried to keep it merely plot and character focused (as a lot of the show is just gooner material) but if you can look past the gooner stuff (or maybe you like it) it can be a really good anime
