Review of Fate/Zero
This review is going to trigger butthurt Type-Moon fanboys, so bear with my opinion if you've got even the tiniest bit of maturity. Fate/Stay Night, a show, more like a visual novel or better eroge, which roughly translated to porn game in English which gets overly hyped recommended. However, this is a prequel to the cringey harem/romantic comedy antics trash that is the main series, thus I thought it'd be something else, having a different director etc. In the end I was wrong. Story : 4 The plot isn't any different than the sequel: same holy grail war, same classes, same plot devices that ruin the whole show, totally predictableoutcomes, character deaths, and tons, I swear tons of useless dialogues about alternative strategies or edgy bullshit that will make you fall asleep the moment you forget this anime is labeled as "action", but I can't expand this part much because I'll end up boring you either way.
ART: 9
Ufotable is my favorite animation studio so far, I can't complain about animations, except for the episodes which lasted longer than usual, I appreciated their efforts in Kara No Kyoukai, and I encourage the studio to pick up better shows.
Sound: 5
Where's the sound? It was just here because it had to be, besides the openings, there weren't any soundtracks that I could recall from the show apart from edgy music thrown here and there.
Character: 1
I must say the first episode or pilot managed to introduce very well each character, too bad half of them are going to die the next episode for whatever stupid reason they make up to erase a character from the show. However, there's one thing that made me grind my gears, the main character, Emiya Kiritsugu, let me tell you why I hated so much this character: he was firstly introduced as a mature and grown man, then we get to know his past and background, and this is where Fate/Zero jumps the shark. Kiritsugu's logic makes no freaking sense, he kills few people to save many, kill one to save a hundred, but does it apply everywhere? Why did she kill Natalia when she said she was going to retire? Why did he kill HIS FOSTER MOM and why did he kill his father without thinking twice? I don't believe it can be settled with "you're the only guy who can do this because you can", it makes no fucking sense whatsoever, he isn't human, the characters aren't human, just a massive cluster of edgy shit with somewhat "psychology" when they barely show some human traits like in the case of Kirei. Forget the depth, where's the fucking logic in the first place?
Enjoyment: If I could rate it 0 I'd do it, but let's just say 1
The only enjoyment I ever had from this show was the fact that it was over. I felt like if I had been freed from a cage I was forced to stay in for several days, do you know that feeling? I guess you do.
Overall: 3
I fail to understand why people praise this literal piece of shit, because I can't define it with anything else but shit, when it's but a generic, boring, cringey and nonsenical shows for edgy kids. I'm not watching a Fate/Stay Night anime, play a VN of it, read a manga of it EVER again. If you're a beginner, you'll enjoy this show, if you're someone who's looking for dark and deep anime you're in the wrong place.
