Review of Black Rock Shooter

Black rock shooter, is a very unique anime. Now that alone doesn't make it good or bad, just special. If you take a look at the black rock shooter reviews, you'll most likely see two different kinds of people. There will be a large amount of people who rate it 3 and under. There will, however also be quite a few people who rate it a 9 or a 10. I, personally am in the second bracket. On the outside, black rock shooter is a slice of life, combined with awesome fighting scenes. And that's it. People who see the series as that, will most likely give it alow score.
However under the surface, there are deep underlying themes along with quite a bit of symbolism.

Story: 10/10
This might be a bit biased, because i really like psychological shows. But the concept of two worlds being intertwined while still being separate is a really cool concept to me.

Art: 9/10
The art in the slice of life aspect, isn't phenomenal but still decent.
The vivid animation in the fighting scenes however, is fantastic.

Sound: 9/10 The opening of black rock shooter, is a song written partially by supercell, and sung by the vocaloid hatsune miku. Along with quite a few nice parts of the soundtrack, the overall sound in the anime is pretty damn good.

Characters: 10/10
The characters is what makes this show fantastic. How the characters change according to their counterparts, along with a nice plot twist (that i won't spoil) makes sure that you're really invested in the characters.

Enjoyment: 10/10
The overall premise makes you think, which i personally really like, and once in a while, you get to sit back and enjoy beautifully animated fight scenes.

Some people either don't understand the story or just don't like the story. This is natural, but it's also the reason Black rock shooter has such a low rating.

Overall, Black rock shooter is definately not for everyone, however if you like profound stories and psychological shows, i highly recommend it.
