Shiki is one of the few animes that gave me goose pimples. Looking beyond the strange characters artwork (ya, they spot very strange hairstyles that defy gravity), Shiki is an excellent horror anime that will make you close your windows and lock your doors when you sleep at night. Yes, it's that eerie. Yet at the same time, it breaks your heart. Shiki is not just a horror anime, it also tugs at your moral values and conscience as a human being. What happens if your loved ones turn into a zombie? What would you do? Really, you will exterminate them for the good of all?Think again. By the end of the anime, even I started to doubt myself and felt sympathy for the zombies. Towards the end of the series, you don't know who's the human and who's the zombie anymore. The story is great in this way.

Shiki is also not afraid to introduce gore, and I don't just mean the typical blood and body parts thing. I mean it plays to your emotions and conscience. Shiki is not for the faint hearted - not because it's too gory, but because it's very disturbing.

I would recommend this anime to anyone who likes a good scare at night. Remember to lock your doors and windows.
