Evangelion, a show which not only leaves you but everyone around you confused. This show in my opinion is actually very good with a lot of interesting plot dynamics and how things affect each other. A lot of people's favorite part of the show is the start especially the first 14 or so episodes but in my opinion, I think this is rather a pretty boring and repetitive part of the show. I think this show rather shines in its unique and interesting ending. I think the best way to explain my rating would be to just explain my thoughts on the last episode inspecific as I think it summarizes my thoughts on the end part of the show pretty well.

The intro with Shinji felt really weird (in a good way though), I don't know but it was fascinating the way his mind was analyzed and was only being criticized by the feelings and thoughts of others and how that also went into effecting his self-worth and who and what he has accomplished as a person. Also ya the way Shinji realized how people around him affected who he is and how that was portrayed and such was idk what really to say to it, it was weird, fascinating, I disliked it but at the same time liked it, it in a way blanks my mind..... Also, the way the episode transitioned into him being in a normal world just for it to be taken away was also just strange I guess, I felt like that plotline was one that has inspired so many adaptations of it though, but it probably has come from something even before that... Then how it transitioned into how reality is just the narrow perspective of yourself and how that ends up affecting how you view everything and everything around you and what reality is and how that affects how you view yourself positively and negatively, just for Shinji to feel like loving himself is what he needed was interesting. The congratulations at the end also felt like a group therapy of sorts and almost like he was a physiological experiment with his dad and college running on how to get out of his depressive state. In the end, the ending was really weird, I think it was a really interesting and great interpretation of the mind but at the same time I feel like just to say love yourself and doing so will make everything better was just too much of a simplification of life and the world around it. I get the last 2 episodes of it were supposed to be a representation of the life around you so the average audience member can relate but I think it wasn't enough to build that connection in that sense. I rather don't even know if I think that ending was a just one for the show. I understand that a simple message of "love yourself" was what the author wanted you to take from the show, but at the same time, I feel like that message is just inadequate and too happy and nice summarization of what life really is. To add on the animation was around 8-9 in my opinion since a lot of the elements were really good. Sound effects and stuff I also really like, the music was a hit or miss to me, I like the intro and outro but found the music during the mind mess scenes as ehhh. I felt like it fit the scenes but it was just very strange overall also around 8-9. I think the characters and enjoyment would be hard to explain in particular but I think the characters had some relation to a lot of the animes we have now but still definitely have very unique aspects of personality and how they thought and reacted to the scenario they were in though I don't really have a particular rating in this category in mind. My enjoyment in my opinion was around an 8 or so give or take .5. Overall I give the show something around a 8.42 or so.
