Review of Gintama
Many people like to give 8/10's, 9/10's, and 10/10's on many shows. For me? I personally find it absurd if there were actually that many highly rated shows. Most shows, are in the 4/10 to 7/10 range, and only those that are actually good, should be welcomed with a 8-10/10. And for me, a 10/10 is the number one show that you've ever watched. And that is Gintama I've started watching this when it was airing back in 2013-2014, and have since rewatched the series at least 3 times, which is a surprising amount for someone who does not ever rewatch things like me. Now ofcourse, this show isn't actually a perfect anime with no blemishes, it is merely the #1 anime I have in my heart.
Some characters act too off course of their personalities sometimes, and certain pacings of the plot could be a lot better. Serious plot lines still have inappropriate scenes of comic relief. The art, haha, it could be better. By a LOT.
However, this is outshined by everything else of the show. It creates a lot of funny moments. Parodies, breaking fourth wall, jokes, monologuing, pov's, funny and interesting interactions with characters, and wacky plots all form together to create the funniest comedy I have ever watched. While I don't think the plot is particularly bad, and in fact, I find many of the plots to be well executed.
But that isn't why I think this is the best show. It's the best, because the formula it's got for making people laugh is ungodly. It's amazing.
I won't bore you with many pages of my praise, and instead, will give you my conclusion: It's a very funny anime, but it is also a hit or miss. You'll either like it, or find it to be quite mediocre. You will have to Watch the first 12-24 episodes before figuring out whether the comedy is in your tastes. Like I said before, you don't quite watch this for the serious plot or animation, so the first episodes are kind of G A R B A G E. Don't give it up just because of that. Those are merely secondary concerns for the other things that it brings to the table. Give it a try. The animation may seem to be a turnoff, or the weird plot in the beginning might, too. However, once you get the ball rolling, this show really might place a high rating in your lists.
