Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Death is scary.Death is the same for everyone.AnoHana beautifully portrays death through a child's mind.We are introduced to JinTan,an enthusiastic kid turned Hikkikomori. There are several reasons and one of them was the death of his mother and a girl who he loved Menma who died. These childhood traumas being bottled up leads us to a bruised JinTan who has pretty much messed up his life till now.Its not only a problem with JinTan but with everyone. One of the primary example is Yukiatsu.A cold person who mocks JinTan for still living in the past but who himself is guilt ridden by what all has happened. One problem childrenface is the fact that people will never come back after death.Remember that the Super Peace Busters broke up after the death of Menma.Another is the guilt. The series just shows us flashbacks of the day when Menma died and this becomes one of the broken bridges for all the members of the Super Peace Busters. It is like how much ever they try running from it,it is of no use because the past will still haunt them.Although the story is predictable, the emotions and the dialogues are enough to melt a man with a frozen heart. The love triangle was one more reason why i have to give the story an 8.The soundtrack was pleasant and was able to accompany the melancholy shown through the art. Most of the characters were relatable.Did i enjoy it.I wasted a lot of tissues but it was worth it
Overall,an anime to watch.It has a heavy overdose of Nostalgia.a 9/10
