Review of School Days
School Days is an anime named after Overflow's visual novel of the same name. It follows the protagonist, Makoto Ito, and his relationships with various girls. Sincerely, Overflow went all out to make Makoto one of the most despised characters in modern anime, as well as question "What the hell is everyone doing/thinking?!?!?" Story- 5/10 As I mentioned, this is an anime that's involving the relationships of one guy with a bunch of girls. But the way he acts with the girls in order to get what he wants will REALLY piss you off. It's a series of bad decisions that just makes you upsetat every person, except the first girl, named Kotonoha.
Art- 6/10
The art is pretty average, but it's nice to see movement in the anime, unlike the visual novel where you just see their mouths move and rarely is there a scene with movement. There is one scene of fanservice in this series, which is Kotonoha in the bath and that's it. The one thing that pissed me off was the eyes, which at various points I couldn't tell where their eyes and face started/ended.
Sound- 7/10
OST is the only thing I genuinely enjoy in this series, the OP is very nice, although not memorable. The songs for different situations fit well with the scene and I don't have much to complain about it.
Character- 6/10
The only reason why I gave this part a 6 is because the characters fit with what is needed to get a "bad end" in the visual novel, which is what the producers intended to get. Every character, except Kotonoha, is scum and a degenerate. Especially Makoto for the way he treats the girls. But if you end up hating him, just watch for the ending, which is one of the best endings I have seen to a character.
Enjoyment- 5/10
The show isn't necessarily enjoyable, but it's rather infuriating at how the show runs along. As I mentioned, it's a series of bad decisions that lead to more crap that could've been easily prevented by the characters, but hey, I guess for plot value it had to be done. The show is really enjoyable from Episode 9 onward. Every episode before is kinda boring, mediocre and upsetting.
Overall- 6/10
For a show with crappy decisions, it kinda held out well, but the characters is what really makes this show pretty terrible. The only worthy reasons to watch this is to see A: One of Anime's famous Yandere (Won't say who it is, although I sincerely think she didn't deserve to be pushed into her limits that made her a Yandere) and B: To see one of the most satisfying and violent endings to an Anime.
If Overflow's main idea with this anime was to make the viewer feel pissed and hate the main male character, then I'd say they did a successful job at it.
