Review of Durarara!!
This is definitely a show for tastes. It's pretty slow in the beginning, and there are hints of a bigger story, but no set plot. In fact, the plot only really starts to piece together much later in the series. So if you're intrigued enough to be patient and stick around for long enough, you're in for a treat! The feel of this show is really akin to being in a city. Everything's big, slightly obnoxious, but entertaining. (That's one of this series' strong points - its super colorful and funny characters.) You think you'll probably never see the same people again, but if you stickaround the city for long enough, you see familiar faces and eventually figure out what strings the whole system together. There's also a nice supernatural element to give the whole thing an extra kick.
Overall, enjoyable - but you might not get hooked right away! (It's also a bit incomplete because the rest of the novel wasn't animated... but season 2 is coming soon!)
