Review of Black Rock Shooter
This is one of the first anime I watched, and I hold it dear to my heart, but I will try to remain unbiased. Black Rock Shooter is an anime with a confusing, thought-provoking plot, weird analogies and doesn't nearly have enough episodes to concisely explain everything it attempts to portray. Yet, all of those flaws can add to the appeal and the utter uniqueness of the entire series. You walk away from the series with questions instead of answers, but those questions are likely about things outside your life, rather than the series itself. Visually, it's an absolutely amazing anime, with 3D fights, visual effects andartwork off the charts, with some beautiful characters fit for waifu status. After seeing the pretty but rather basic animations from the OVA, returning fans of it will be pleasantly surprised by the fluid and satisfying animation and art style.
The music for it is good, but i'll readily admit i'm not the first to notice sound or score quality, I'm usually too caught up in the plot to notice.
The characters are notably different from the OVA, but recognizable. The personalities of each character are troubled in different ways, with considerable character development and progress throughout the rather short series. Each character is loved by the watcher at some point of another, even though some's personality development is so severe you feel like you have to specify if you liked the character's personality "before" or "after" her change. (and yes, it's probably a her. there are no male characters in this series)
Overall, i recommend this anime. It's a pleasure to watch and the figurines and merch make it well worth a view for anyone looking to empty their wallet for some amazing figures, (as i readily did once i finished it). I've rewatched it quite a few times and never get bored of it, so if you're ready for a rather interesting experience in terms of plot, and a beautiful experience in animation and character, i recommend this anime tenfold, (and hey, it's eight episodes. what could happen?)
