Review of Is This a Zombie? of the Dead
When I reviewed the first season of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? I complained about the lack of story and randomness of it all – this season has even less of an actual plot, but somehow ends up being better for it. It gets more creative with its humour, relying a bit less on recurring gags or nonsensical "worldbuilding", but simply having fun with its characters and even giving them some minor development, which was nearly absent earlier on. It's kind of toned-down in comparison to the first season, but that makes it less cringy and messy, and by result more relaxing to watch. I'm notsure if it'd be the same for everyone, but for me it felt like an all-around improvement over S1 – even the OP and ED music was slightly more catchy. It feels somewhat cut short, signalizing a major plot development and an upcoming battle, and ending before any of that can materialize, but I enjoyed the ride too much to really care about that.
Ultimately, it's still very much just more of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? in all its absurd and unapologetic glory, and whether that's a good or bad thing is entirely up to you.
