Review of Durarara!!

Synopsis: Ryuugamine Mikado encounters many interesting people and is soon immersed in the Ikebukuro secret and becomes part of the goings on in Ikebukuro. Story:(9/10) The story of Durarara!! is quite amazing and is set the city of Ikebukuro following the lives of many characters who are part of different gangs most notably the Dollars. The story follows Mikado and how he starts a new life in Ikebukuro and encounters new and interesting people including the black rider. The story is pretty good especially in the first 12 episodes and the remaining episodes are engaging and pretty good story wise. Art(9/10) The art is simply amazing inthis anime with all the main cast in colour whereas the background characters are in grey to really push out the main characters and where this may be considered a way to spend less money it works really well and makes the Art of Durarara!! Great. Also the Art is top notch in the actions scenes and the animation is outstanding but there are some parts where the animation is not as good as in other parts.
A quick mention to the openings as well as the animation is done well and like Baccano has the characters name on the screen when you see the characters, also the endings have good animation to.

Sound(10/10) The Sound is one of the high points in this anime with the background music working perfectly with the scenes and all the music interesting and enjoyable. The first opening "Sunset of Betrayal"by Theatre Brook is brilliant and works well with the visuals of the first opening to. The second opening in my opinion is even better with the song "Complication" by ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D and work well with the visuals as well. The ending themes are also outstanding with the first ending "Trust Me" by Yuya Matsushita and the second ending "Butterfly" by On/Off great pieces of music and I never wanted to skip either them or the openings. The English Dub for this anime is a dub that I think is quality and voice actors like Johnny Yong-Bosch playing Izaya, Crispin Freeman playing Shizuo and Patrick Seitz playing the brilliant character Simon makes this in my opinion one of the best anime dubs to watch.

Characters:(10/10) The characters are also a high point in this anime but do have some flaws as I think some characters should of had more screen time and be developed more. Some characters like Shinra disappear for a few episodes and his dad Shinren only appearing in minimal episodes which was a bit weird. Also I think Simon should have been involved a bit more in the whole series like he is in the final few episodes. Other than this all the characters are brilliant for Izaya(My favourite character) to Shizuo and Celty and the rest of the cast which are amazing in there own rights. Also the characters are well developed and you start to feel connected to them in some way and by the end you wish there was more.(THERE IS A SEASON 2 COMING IN JANUARY 2015) Also the rivalry between Izaya and Shizuo is a brilliant addition to the anime series as a whole. Overall the characters are outstanding and would be even better if it wasn't for the few problems I had.

Overall I think that this anime is amazing and that it is an outstanding view of how anime should be made with brilliant characters, story, art and sound and I only have limited problems with this anime but it still deserves a brilliant rating. Watch this anime if you want I highly recommend this.
