Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
This is one unique anime to watch. "Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai" is different from most common romance anime. It's not heavily based on high school life, or harem style. It's about a strange phenomenon which a girl spirit hangs out with her friend trying to unite friendship between their friends. And that's interesting to watch. Though it's unique in genre, but it's not in story telling. In fact, this part is the only thing that is lacked in this series. Somehow, the story is serious than expected. It lacks fun, and joy which sometimes can decrease the enthusiasm towardit. I know there are only 11 episodes, so they gotta cut to the chase. But if only, there were more episode, it would be brilliant.
Art in this one is beautiful. It's great like most anime out there. Character design, and environments are quite detail. It's really eye catching.
Sound is also superb. The opening sounds great. The ending one sounds absolutely beautiful. Really really really love the ending song. Its rhythms, and tones really fits with the story. It goes along really well. The drawback is it slightly lacks of background sounds. Without that, it can't really pull the emotion out of me.
Each character is unique in different way, having different personality, and have different role in the story. But times to times, they are quite annoying since there are not much information of each of them. Slightly not detail, but great.
Overall, I enjoy this one. It's not too long, and it's informative enough to understand, and to enjoy. Best of all, it's unique. So, if you wonder what your next anime should be, I suggest
"Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai".
