Review of The Secret World of Arrietty
Arrietty review As always studio Ghibli’s movies bring a message about life and society and Arrietty doesn’t disappoint us at all. It’s a beautiful and simple story about how we perceive things around us and how important small details are for the greater image. The movie tells us about two separate worlds the one were humans live and the other one were small little people called “Borrowers” spend their daily life.The story is told from the perspective of Arriety our heroine who is one of the Borrowers .At first the anime focuses on the small world but yet crafted with details that isthe identity and place to call it home for the Borrowers. After that the anime explores that world further with the help of our small people , the obstacles and danger they encounter in their daily life and the way they coexist with the human world in order to survive.
The movie portrays the dependence between those two worlds and how the small people to survive borrow different things from the human world from time to time like food, cloths, but all with great care so that it won’t affect or notice the humans about their existence.It’s a allegory to our society were we need to coexist and help each other to maintain a firm foundation for the society and her chain of work.
It also criticize the human society who in her path for development , has destroyed many natural reservations for species , and forced them to move from their natural habitat causing the extinction of many animal or plant species.This is all portrayed with the help of our Borrowers whose existence and home is discovered , they are forced to move to another home to ensure their survival.
In conclusion the movie puts a strong accent on the small details and portrays a strong message for the viewer about the small details that for some people can change their point of view about the way they perceive things. It’s all about those details that contribute and make our daily life more comfortable and gives us hope to move on the long road filled with obstacles called LIFE.
