SPOILERS Ohh, Evangelion 3.0. After watching 1.0 and 2.0, I was really excited for Q, especially with the third impact happening. But as I watched the movie I soon realized that this was not anything I expected, it was something far different. Evangelion 3.0 shows a world where Shinji basically fucks up the whole planet and for the last 14 he's been asleep and Misato and the rest of the gang need to fight against NERV who are trying to cause the FOURTH impact. This movie is confusing, in so many ways and this works sometimes for its advantage and sometimes it totally doesn't. This newpost-apocalyptic is really unknown of, and Shinji who just awoke from a 14 and doesn't know what the hell is happening, like us. This makes a really cool effect of when the movie tells us new information, both us and Shinji are reacting to it and this makes us relate to Shinji more. But it also makes a really weird experience of just being plotted into a new world where you don't know shit of what's happening, and the movie doesn't really give many hints unlike NGE. It's also like 1.0 a very hollow movie, not much happens, it starts really impactful, the middle is just Shinji hanging around the ruins of NERV (this is most of the movie) and then a really cool ending. Good things about the movie is one; the art style and quality of animation has really only gotten better, I love how everything feels so lively and really love the character designs (specially Asuka's). And of course the saving point of this movie is the one and only KAWORU. The relationship between Kaworu and Shinji is really what makes this movie, it really gives the movie a soul. And the ending of the movie with Kaworu's death made me really sad, really showing how great Kaworu was. And of course the continuation of the story and character is also ok, a bit lackluster though (I really expected Misato to be more important). The ending is amazing as always with amazing visual and an amazing battle between Evas. I really hope 3.0 + 1.0 next year can put a bow on this saga and explain more of wtf happened in this movie.
I give Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo a 7/10
