Review of Memories

The way Satoshi Kon blends fantasy with realiity is phenomenal. He makes use of what in my humble opinion is the most powerful aspect of animation: it makes you wonder what's real and what's not in a work of fiction. The title 'Magnetic Rose' for me a great invigorator of mental imagery and I love the way such an abstract collocation is brought to life in the short, this is indeed the work of a genius, needless to say the best of the collection. The second short however, is as bad as most anime. The animation is good and that's just about it. Comedyis highly subjective though so you may like it. Maybe it's just there to tell us that we're being ruled by idiots.

The third short too is faithful to its title which is 'Cannon Fodder'. This one was a pleasant surprise since it wasn't orders of magnitude worse than the first. This short has some of the best world building I have seen; a great depiction of the era of nation states.
