Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion changed the way I think. It was the first anime I ever saw with a character I could relate to on such a disgusting and visceral level. The way we explore Shinji, Asuka, Misato and all the other characters minds are almost cathartic. It is almost so good I can't even put it into words. That being said, after multiple re-watches I believe there are a good bit of faults to the show, the middle and beginning slump compared to the end, the slice of life bits between Asuka and Shinji were nice on the first watch but after re-watching multiple timesit became quite grating, and this may just be a personal preference thing, but the actual Eva fights are probably my least favorite parts of the show. Either way, thank you Hideaki Anno and all the other GAINAX staff for such an amazing piece of fiction.
