Review of Shiki

Shiki was a surprise to me when I discovered it. I had zero expectations going into this anime and what I found was a well written and extremely enjoyable experience that I can't help but recommend, although I sense some people will abandon this anime because it is rather slow to start. How slow? well the first 17ish episodes are all build up with just enough conflict to keep you focused. The main character isn't fully introduced or focused on until around episode 6 until then your sort of jumping between multiple characters getting more background and setting and I will admit that this can bea little dull at times but for good reason. Shiki for the first 12ish episodes is a mystery and intrigue story that turns more into a thriller from episodes 13 to 17. and there is episode 19 which starts what is in my opinion one for the most satisfying payoffs to ever occur in any anime I have watched to this day and the train doesn't stop until the show ends.

TLDR: Shiki is an anime with an insanely long buildup time of 17-18 episodes but the payoff and writing is so good that this is at most a minor inconvenience.
