I see allot of very negative reviews because ecchi = bad, and allot of gushing reviews from people that honestly should just go watch some hentai. I dont see anything wrong however, in having those opinions. Ecchi really just isnt some peoples thing, and thats cool. For the others, amount of ecchi content shouldn't be synonymous with enjoyment. I won't lie, I like some ecchi here and there. This anime certainly catered to that, but I don't thin kit was supposed to be taken nearly as seriously as some people are taking it. Take this, an excerpt from the top review of this show. " In all seriousness, thisis one of the worst anime I've ever seen. Here is one of those anime that really struggles to understand what its trying to be.The mindless sex and violence, which is what it is, is constantly being undercut by one of the worst harem anime plots I've ever seen. Character development is minimalist to say the least, and every time it tries to make a character even remotely interesting, it's undercut by how silly the whole thing is. One minute a girl is talking about how she's afraid of her inner, violent, dark side, and the next she's riding on the roof of a van wearing nothing but underwear and an apron while holding a katana.

By taking this show at face-value, you have seriously ruined it for yourself. Just to be clear, this is a show about highschoolers running around killing zombies and stealing weapons and vehicles. Right off the bat I know it isn't serious, and if you tried to watch it as if it were serious I SINCERELY understand why you would give it a terrible review. But that's honestly not what I saw in this show. I thought it was HILARIOUS. Its over the top tit jiggling horrible plot with the most basic, yet capricious and inconsistent characters each making a mockery of their respective archetypes really tied this show together as one big parody meant to offend serious viewers of either side with the duality of this shows horrible-over-the-top-practically-porn-iness. And yet, the best part in my opinion, it seems that, if the reviews are anything to go by, neither juxtaposed position got the joke.

Please don't watch this show if you are going to take it seriously. You'll give me a migraine, turn those who would find appeal in its parodic nature, and waste your own time.

Honestly am I being played? are these reviewers serious?

The massive production budget barely saves this one from the lowest rating, despite my overwhelming hatred of this series! Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go read something good like The Brothers Karamazov. Then I will use the book's tremendous size to beat some zombie fans to death with it!

Really? Russian classic literature is this person fall back to try and pose to anime watchers thinking about watching an ecchi show?

Highschool of the Dead is a show that knows a very, very base demographic and knows exactly how to pander to it. It aims to please simple-minded, uniformly male teenagers with base level action and lots and lots of large, jiggling breasts. Highschool of the Dead has quickly entered into the ranks of shows extremely popular, not for being well-written or emotive, but simply for being a barrel of big, dumb fun.

All this blustering posing it honestly really frustrating. its like watching someone connect half the points on one of those connect-the-dot drawings and then completely miss-connect the painstakingly numbered and ordered points.

The irony, that this person, Lindle, recommends George Romero films, known to be satirical, yet takes this anime completely seriously.
