Review of School Days
Let me just announce this now. This isn't a bad anime, it's really not. It's a "touching" (for lack of a better word) anime about how someone can affect another whom is in love with them. It's also a prime example as to why girlfriends don't trust the "best friend" thing. But that's not what I'm here to talk about. I'll keep it short and what not but I do feel that I need to put my little cent in here in the reviews. This will probably contain spoilers, I'm so sorry. The story follows Makoto Itou, Kotonoha Katsura, and Sekai Saionji and it'sreally just tragic. It's kinda touching, if you sympathize with Kotonoha... but's really just a tragedy. I had the hardest time watch this show, again, not because it's bad... but because its.... bad...? Like the concept of Makoto is utterly disgusting, Sekai made me want to bash my head in and Kotonoha... so pathetic. BUT I UNDERSTAND things like this are entirely possible. A girl will fall in love with a guy that's pursuing her, the same guy will probably fall out of love with her... cheat on her... cause her such mental and emotional damage she loses herself, and the friend of the guy will fall in love with a guy. It happens all the time. I think...
But anyway. To me, the plot was way over dramatized. I do understand that realistically it COULD happen. But it it's such a rarity. Not say that Makoto didn't deserve all he got, because let me tell you, I was over flowing with rage man... just boiling over. But I think the show was really extra and offered no true.. or healthy solution to the conflict. And that's kind of what I look for in an anime like this one. This show depicts girls as fragile and helpless and batshit crazy. And we are, hell, I know. But I think this wasn't positive.
Ok, it really was just sad. This anime is a hit or miss honestly. It's sort of slow at first put it picks up fast after that. Don't think it's gonna be giggles and kisses and rainbows. That kid has girls at his door waiting to try what he's got at some point in time.
I hope this helps. If you can't watch it just know it took me several tries to get into it. And when you do you won't be disappointed per say, just infuriated. Which is why I gave it a 6. It wasn't truly enjoyable, just angering.
