Naisho no Tsubomi · review
This short anime is about kids exploring relationships and how awkward learning about sex and becoming aware of the differences between boys and girls is. It has a very cute classic artstyle and explored the themes of sex, periods, puberty, friendships and relationships in an innocent and sweet way while being informative and having a good level of emotional depth. Watching this anime felt incredibly nostalgic to my middle school days where everything felt very dramatic and bigger than it was. And also reminded me of learning about sex through friends, the funny scenes where the characters are speculating about sex and telling each otherwhat it is(incorrectly) felt like a memory taken right out of my childhood. As a perfect contrast, it also had grounding moments where the show takes itself seriously. It captures a lot of the real and raw emotions children have around that age perfectly.
I would recommend it to both adults as well as pre-teens and teens as an educational and sweet anime to watch in one sitting. It is very short while also having good pacing and exploring each of the themes adequately, it didnt feel rushed at all. Go watch it! <( ̄︶ ̄)↗
