Review of The World God Only Knows
Preface: I have to write this review for the sake of those who love romance. THIS ANIME SHOULD NOT FALL UNDER ROMANCE. The story wasn't given much thought I must say and it was rushing to get the main point of the story - Keima getting girl after girl to fall in love with him. At this point you should realize. There is no real romance in this story. Unless love lasts for 1 - 2 episodes and jumps to another person. I was really hoping it would be a good one cos my friend recommended this popular love comedy. I have to say, it wasenjoyable. Funny and touching maybe. But then, where's my romance...
Art is pretty decent. The songs were good. Not so much of the openings and endings but more like the songs sung in the episodes. Kanon and her friends had great harmony haha.
Characters... Keima is quite an interesting character I guess. He had no contact with girls prior to the actually "story" and all he has is his galges. To a certain extent I can understand the desire to escape into the virtual world. I think. He gets quite a bit of the development. He's pretty much the only main character anyway. The rest of the girls just come and go... Sure they are cliche characters, but that's the point people... He uses the cliche information from his games about the cliche girls... Elsie is just an airhead. Fairly irritating I must admit. Sweet. But irritating.
I enjoyed it. It's an anime. It's hard not to honestly. How much...? Wasn't too awfully funny and it wasn't too cleverly made. It was just alright. But then again, WHERE'S MY ROMANCE. FYI, the sequel is very much the same with regards to romance. Tsk.
