Ever had a sense of deja vu? where you think you watch or listen to something that is very similar ? Welcome to my first honest review! Today i am reviewing the 2006 anime known as Shakugan no Shana (Shana of the Burning Eyes) Story: Shakugan No Shana universe revolves around the conflict between the good and bad creatures of the Crimson Realm known as Crimson Denizens. Denizens that have strayed away from the right path feast on human souls to maintain their own existence. Denizens that are on the right path of justice form "contracts" with humans as a result a creation known a "FlameHaze" is created.
( Basically a human that is ageless and has supernatural abilities)
The ultimate goal of a Flame Haze is to protect the balance of the human world and the Crimson Realm also to destroy anything that would disturbed it such as evil denizens.(Similar to Shinigamis and Hollows from Bleach)
One fateful day the main male lead Yuji Sakai gets attack by a denizen, and is ultimately saved by a red eyed flaming haired flame haze later to be known as Shana. Yuji and Shana end up forming a friendly relationship with one and another also they become partners. Yuji ends up fighting along side Shana but, there is more that meets the eye.

OVERALL 6/10

To be honest the story is rather generic, It feels like it is something that you have watched or listened 1000 times. Despite not being as originally as other animes the executions was above average compared to other animes
"cough cough Sword Art Online cough cough"
With that being said the story gets a 6/10

PS THE ENDING THAT YOU MOST LIKELY WANT WILL BE IN THE MANGA!.

Animation:

Shakugan No Shana Animation was done by a studio known as J.C Staff.
The animation of the show was average, the only thing that caught my eye was Shana''s flaming hair which was really beautiful, Besides that there was nothing that really made me say "damn that some good animation.

OVERALL 7/10

Characters:

There are a lot of characters but, I am going to review the 3 main ones that the story revolves around.

Shana - Flame Haze- Melon Bread Addict
(The only reason why most of us actually continue to watch the next 2 seasons.)

Shana stands at 141cm ( 4"8) and is the female lead of the series.
Shana is introduced into the series as a work alcoholic only concentrating herself with the duties of a flame haze and does not care about others well being. Because of that Shana has very little understanding of the world but, as the story progress little by little she develops empathy for others and becomes a caring person.

Yuji Sakai - Mytes - Guy that gets girls
(The person who you are gonna call stupid for the most part)

Yuji is your typical teenage boy that goes to high school. Yuji is a kind and gentle person that often thinks about ours before himself. Despite being a nice person this trait usually leads him astray and there is more to him that meets the eye.

Yoshida Kazumi - Yuji friend - Nuisance

Yoshida presence in this series can be summed up to a phase from star wars.
" Disturbance In The Force" she is the embodiment of annoying and a really nuisance to the viewer. Despite being a nuisance to the viewers of the series Yoshida is a caring and nice person , Similar to Yuji she thinks about others before herself.

OVERALL 810

What the story lacks makes up for it in the characters. even so the characters seem generic like the story. Characters of this series feel like it has been done numerous amount of times but, overlooking that they are unique in their own way and ill praise the author for that.

Sound:

ENG DUB VS JPN DUB:

In my opinion Japanese dub is much better in terms of quality and enjoyment
i feel like it matches the characters much better. For the English dub it tends to be more aggressive when you hear it but. it fits well for Shana in the beginnings of the series. I wish i could elaborate about this more but, it really comes down to personal preference.

Openings/Soundtrack

Shakugan No Shana soundtrack was okay.... there were no tunes or melodies
that made me wan't to listen to it out of the series.

Shakugan No Shana openings were really well executed. The openings
Hishoku No Sora and Joint by Mami kawada were refreshing to listen to and watch. One of the best openings i have seen and listen to in a while.

OVERALL 6.5/10

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Series Overall: 7.5/10

Shakugan No Shana is a solid title and i like to consider it as one of the best animes to come out in the year 2005. Although the series is rather generic the
show does have its moments and if you are a fan of supernatural, mystery or romance, this is the show you should pick up and watch.

PS: If i have made some grammar mistakes or some flaws that i haven't notice please tell me =)
