As an anime only starting the monogatari path. I was amazed by bakemonogatari but the magic I saw in bakemonogatari wasn't really here. I think the main issue is pacing without a doubt. The story is intriguing without a doubt but it only starts to get told towards the last 15 minutes. I enjoy the storytelling method of using quick flashes of text as well as animation to tell the story as opposed to simply dialogue, but it was just too slow this time around. I enjoy the careful pacing but this wasn't it for me. Regardless, the movie does many things well, the soundis brilliant, as well as the art and animation. The dialogue is witty and the characters with an air of mystery about them, even though we may have existing knowledge about them, the author makes it clear that there is more to the story. It's only the first movie, and i'm expecting more from the kizumonogatari trilogy. 7/10. Thanks for reading
