Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
I'm not even going to go through each individual category with this review, I'm just going to get right to it. This anime was recommended to me when I was going through a phase of wanting to find series that could make me cry. I had one friend tell me she still can't rewatch the series because it messed her up, and I've seen this friend stressed, but never knew/thought her to be one to cry easier. The other friend is someone with a "Cards Against Humanity" style humor similar to mine (aka "almost nothing is sacred"), but he told me that this show made himcry like a baby. Between those two testimonies, I had to try it out.
What I was met with was a show that had characters and events that I got so invested in, that my reactions were even physical (which doesn't happen as often as it may seem). The characters became so well developed, and the plot was so seamless.
I knew this show was going to rip my heart out when the description I was given (by the latter friend) was "a group of friends broke up after on of them died while they were kids, and now they're in high school and her ghost came back, but can only be seen by one of them. She can only pass on when her one true wish is granted, but to achieve it, he has to get them all back together." Come the final episode, when I was crying my eyes out, I actually had to take a step back and ask myself why I was crying.
10/10, do recommend, go watch it.
