Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

This anime made me cry. In a good way. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Ano Hana for short) was an anime that was brought to many people's attention when it first started airing. I was one of these people, and I would like to share my input on how I felt about this anime. Story: 8 The death of a childhood friend. Childhood friends getting together as one again. Distance between each friend exists because of time. Most of these elements I've seen before. I still give it an 8 because this anime displays these elements in such a delicate way that theoverall atmosphere envelops the viewer as well.

Art: 8
The artwork wasn't anything special, and each character was drawn like any other anime character. But nothing was exaggerated, and not much moe exists (expect for maybe Menma). I like anime like this, since it provides a more realistic feel to the anime, even if it involves spirits.

Sound: 9
The BGM, OP, and ED all have such a soft sound, and it fits the anime perfectly. The opening was a personal favorite of mine, and I would listen to the whole thing every time I watch an episode.

Character: 10
The development the characters go through was amazing. Each character get's a spotlight at one point of the show, and with the flashbacks of their childhood, you can really see how much the characters are going through. It may not be something you can relate to, but it is something you can experience with them as you watch.

Enjoyment: 10
I really enjoyed this anime, and unlike some anime, the 11 episodes was really just enough to portray the story well. Watching each episode was never a burden.

Overall: 10
I'm fanboy-ing a bit, but Ano Hana was something I haven't watched in a while. I would like to recommend it to each of you. Unless you are those people that can only like fanservice anime, this anime is certainly a good thing to try.
