Review of High School of the Dead
Thoroughly enjoyed the series and am hoping for a season 2.. even though there is little to no chance of that :/ I'd still love to see where it would of gone! alrighty thennnnn Story 9/10: It's your typical zombie movie basically thrown in with a few nudity scenes and a overreaction for fighting.. The story is generic for a zombie series and follows the basic guides to a basic zombie anime. I'm glad they went down the high school route for this as it made it better than some boring old guy who is working in a office and is now fighting zombies. The storykind of made me yawn at some points but I liked it when it came to the twisted parts of this like that fucked up cult guy along with that crazy woman towards the end in the camp. Really enjoyed the story line as a whole! I wish they would of made it a 25 episode long series so it could of gone into alot more backstory and could of extended it a hella lot.
Art 9/10: All the scenes looked really well done for the fast paced style but it did look like they were using a few scenes over and over again sometimes.. It's nice to see this type of anime style be so popular among these days aswell..
Sound 9/10: It sounded good to me and didn't seem like most of the music and sounds were off.
Character 9/10: All characters seemed to have a some what good standing ground with the group along with anyone else who showed up.. It was good to see that not everyone was playing the good guy and there were some actual bad people in this series.. Even though you'd think alot more people would of gone crazy or some shit.. Jumping on the band wagon with everyone else... The way the made Rei talk about her ex boyfriend like he was prince charming kind of pissed me off as a watcher (My opinions atm..) seeing her make the main lead jealous over and over again.. Along with seeing him go back with her aswell at times annoyed me. I understood that he loves her and made that promise but damn dude! She left you for another guy, broke the promise along with casted you to the side when you tried to help her back in school.. just give up and go with the cool kendo girl! Overall I really enjoyed almost every character especially the fat dude! Dude was a true warrior.
Enjoyment 8/10: I did have it at 9 but I bumped it down for some parts I'd remember I'd be so annoyed at some points where it would make no sense. Even though I'd still enjoyed it, I'd changed quite a few points to it.
Overall: I give praise to who wrote this and made this possible for it to become a series! Really enjoyed it and would recommend it to someone whose looking to get into a darker side of anime other than romance/comedy types of anime!
