Review of Bakemonogatari

There are memorable bits and pieces, but overall the plot and dialogue are too abstract and make you feel severe detachment. It fits well in the same dream fever category I'd place Madoka too. It tries to do a bit too much at the same time. The mystery elements don't work at all since foreshadowing and common sense make the reveals way too obvious. On the other hand, the supernatural element is barely fleshed out in this season, rather serving as an unnecessary way to move the plot of each episode, which confuses instead of intrigues you. The overall sentiment, then, is that this isbona fide harem anime with added layers of superfluous thrills. Last but not least, a big problem I had, watching this sub, was trying to read copious amounts of dialogue and watch amazing art with rapid editing at the same time. I really wished I was fluent in Japanese watching this. Well, the art style made this worth the watch in its own right, but I doubt I'll be in the mood for another season of this soon.
