Review of Maria Watches Over Us

Story: The story was interesting and intriguing especially the first episodes. It's interesting to see how the relationships between the girls in Lillian develop and their bonds become stronger. Also their innocent and platonic relationships are interesting as well as mysterious or even confusing. The most interesting part was the main story which was about Yumi and Sachiko and their relationship. Actually the first season it mostly about how Yumi feels really insecure as Sachiko's petit soeur and about how Sachiko feels confused with Yumi's behavior. Generally, after the first part and some few other short stories, the series revolve around the event of St.Valentine's day.It can get a bit more dramatic than what it actually would in most cases in real life, but that's what makes interesting, at least in my opinion, because I have always enjoyed drama.
Art:
The art was really elegant yet it followed the stereotypes of shoujo ai manga, the protagonist has big eyes, looks kind of childish on the contrary to the co-protagonist who is mature looking, tall and slightly cold. Other than that, since this anime so new, the background art is not really outstanding as we can see in most anime since 2010 or so.
Sound:
Well, what I liked mostly about the sound was the opening. I also have to mention the seiyuus, I think every voice suited the characters. The music is elegant and calm according to the atmosphere of the series.
Character:
The best part of the series, I believe, was the characters, especially Yumi and Sachiko, their personality is well developed. As I mentioned earlier, Yumi is a very insecure character, Sachiko is gets easily irritated and is kind of bossy. Her personalities are just so contradictory so lots of misunderstandings take place and both girls usually make them seem a lot worse than they actually are, which kind of proves how much they care about each other. It's their opposite personalities what causes so many problems in their "romantic friendship" however that fact is also what makes them like each other as they do, and they are really admirable.
Enjoyment:
I really enjoyed this show, it was really deep, it was sentimental and dramatic, it showed really intense feelings, so much that when thinking about them I could slightly understand how the characters felt.
