Review of Ghost Stories
This is my first ever review so it probably wont be coherent. Ghost stories is a unique anime because of it's hilarious dub. Since the Japanese version of the show did poorly, they gave the dubbers freedom to do whatever they could to make this show entertaining. My review is only going to be focused on the dub and does not apply to the original version due to how different the two versions are. The story of this show is very formulaic and boring. It's pretty much a ghost of the week type story where a new ghost shows up and it is upto the main cast of characters to defeat the ghost. The ghosts are "put to spiritual sleep" by preforming a ritual from the protagonist's mom's old book.
The art and sound is fine. This is an older anime so I don't really have much to say about it.
The characters are one of the few things that makes this show enjoyable. Each of them are quirky and are extremely enjoyable to watch. Some of the characters includes Momoko, a girl who's obsessed with Jesus and 95% of her lines consist of her making a reference to him, and Keichiro, who is the younger brother of the protagonist who makes noises that makes me laugh my ass off whenever I hear them. I wont explain all of the characters but for the most part they are all funny.
As I alluded to earlier, part of the reason why this show was so enjoyable was because of the dub. The dub's comedy consists of making a lot of offensive jokes, breaking the 4th wall, and making fun of celebrities. Although this type of humor may not be for everyone, it was certainly for me. Even though this shows comedy was great, I feel like it wasn't enough to carry some of the episodes due to how boring they were.
Overall, The Ghost stories dub is extremely funny and is a good show to watch if you want a good laugh. I don't recommend to binge this show due to how boring it is, and I think the best way to get enjoyment out of this series is to watch it slowly.
