Review of Arakawa Under the Bridge
stupidly charming. thats what this show is to me. it's a dumb hilarious romcom but its so very charming. i highly recommend this if you're looking for something silly and light hearted. there's only 13 eps but i find myself finishing the show in one month. not because it was boring, but because i didn't want it to end. story 8/10: unexpectedly, the story was actually pretty good. it had an actual plot and there were little morals/lessons that was slipped in and actually made sense. not just there to be cheesy or to make the show look good, but it was just little lessons.i haven't ever even thought about some of them and its so surprising to me that some of them actually stuck with me a lot.
characters 8/10: honestly dont know what to expect for comedy characters but they were pretty nice. there weren't any stereotypes that i could've point for any of them which was quite surprising to me as comedy usually has those(not that its a bad thing). they were all very charming, i ended up loving all of them though of course none of them had any super emotional or well developed characters besides the mc. i liked his(mc) character development, it wasn't amazing or anything but it was nice and simple. but its still good. theres a season 2 and there were some background on a few characters so im guessing it'll be answered there
sound 8/10: no incredible written pieces, just well fitted sounds on each scene. the op is catchy and innocent, complemented with simple pretty animation, the ed feels like something you'd hear at the end of a school festival if that makes sense and i think its perfect for the show.
art 8/10: fucking perfect. good animation with a simple art style that captures the comedy moments well. nothing incredibly animated but its perfect for this show. there's always these sudden eye shots that are completely random but it fits well with the show. its always shown after something stupid that the characters do and its as if rec(the mc) is taken back and is a little break so the joke/skit doesn't run too far. again theres nothing incredible about the art but i dont think it needs anything incredible.
enjoyment 10/10: there isn't a single episode or moment where i felt "huh..? what the hell was that" i always smile and get joy just by the thought of wanting to watch an episode.
