Sword Art Online

Review of Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online was built around a concept everyone who has no friends dreams of, but dear god did it execute it poorly. Story: 5/10 The story was kind what one would expect. Imagine generic WoW questlines... yeah, something like that. My only disappointment is that Kirito didn't get the RuneScape fishing cape. Still, it was incredibly drab. Art: 8/10 Pretty straightforward - it had good art...Sound: 7/10

The soundtrack in the calmer parts of the show was great... perfect generic town music for an MMO

Character: 3/10

Holy crap... I didn't think plot armor could be a personality... Kazuto Kirigaya proved me wrong. We have a typical little girl for the lolicons (Silica), a sacrificial pawn (Sachi), a token (Agil, who for the record was one of the only characters with actual personality), a harem queen (Asuna), a good friend that's left out to dry (Klein), and finally, someone who pretends their high INT stat makes up for their low charisma stat... I'm confident after all that I saw he probably had to have drugged 90% of the girls to get them to like him (Kirito). I'd rather write a 10/10 on the life of Bill Cosby than say Kirito isn't bullsh*t incarnate.

Enjoyment: 6/10

I honestly liked the fishing arc and peaceful scenes. Plus - the goat demon boss thing was kinda cool. The soundtrack was good, and the anime had great art. The only downside - the story was a drag and the characters felt like AQW NPCs 9 times out of ten, with the 1/10 being the hentai game characters advertised on my screen when I tried to fullscreen SAO.

Overall: 6/10

I'm not willing to summarize... this review has already forced me to reminisce for far too long... enjoy your anime 12-year-olds! When you're 15 you'll realize how garbage Kirito really was
