Review of Sword Art Online

The reason I write this review is because there is so much hate going on for this show. Everyone, I want you to remind you that THIS show is one the first isekai/virtual reality shows. In 2012, THIS show started it all. Yes, it's a "Basic" isekai show, but it is also one of the first... There are shows with better stories for sure but SAO is not just about story but more about the general "theme". Some kids are trapped in an MMORPG and they are trying to get out. MC is over-powered but what is there to not like about it? After all,he is the god damn Main Character, it's quite normal for him to be powerful. Like, how else is he supposed to save everyone?

You are supposed enjoy the whole idea of living in a virtual world, all the fancy effects and theme itself. It's so sad seeing people voting this anime down and I don't understand where all this "seriousness" come from. Like, how are you supposed to enjoy an anime if you watch it like a douche bag modern-art inspector inspecting art?

Any way, what I like the most about this show is how it feeds your imagination and the sense of adventure it presents. I won't make a detailed review about the story and characters, because I don't want to ruin your chance to enjoy this show, like some people do.

It's a 9/10 for me, since in a way, it colored my world. It's not a masterpiece but I enjoyed it very much. It's like Naruto, it became a classic through the years. For me it's a 9. For an emotionless art inspector, it's probably a 6 or 7.

If you're simple minded like me and just want to enjoy some fantasy genre, this one is gold for you. Though if you expect a life changing anime with amazing story and character development, this one might bore you. After all, it defined what "Basic Isekai" is like.

And I admit 2nd season is just "meh" or maybe worse.

Also SAO: Alicization has a much better story and is better overall. And you may still want to watch SAO just for the sake of it.
