This is a prequel to the anime series Otogi Zoshi yet does not fit with the anime's established characterization or plot motives. The characters in this manga are completely different than those established in the anime (Tsuna being the exception) and it's hard to imagine the two mediums as the same universe and timeline. By itself this is a decent manga with good artwork and an easy to follow plot that fits together and makes decent sense, even if it is a simple idea. But as a tie-in with the anime it is a horrible let down and leaves more questions than answers even afteryou've seen the anime.

I do not recommend this manga if you plant to but have not yet watched the anime as it gives away the surprise at the end of the fist arc of the series. I should note I have seen the anime many many times and I highly enjoyed it.
