Moonlight Mile is a unique manga and a genuine surprise, especially considering the low rating it had at the time I’m writing this review. Let’s break it down. The artwork is simply outstanding. The drawing is fluid, highly detailed, and has a distinctive style of its own. This mangaka is particularly skilled at drawing faces: he can create clearly different-looking characters, both male and female, and you can recognize them instantly. That’s something quite rare, as many artists tend to rely on very stylized designs where characters share similar features (as happens, for example, with how some manga artists draw women). As for the story, I’ll avoid spoilers.I’ll just say that every character plays a role, even those who seem insignificant at first. Each of them can surprise you with dramatic backstories that really hit hard emotionally.

The only downside for me is that the series isn’t finished, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to read the ending in my language. If that never happens, I’ll just treat the end of the first arc as the canon ending. And what an arc… absolutely spectacular.
