Chivalry of a Failed Knight · review
A light novel series that makes Harry Potter ashamed (IMO) For people who know this light novel after watching the anime, trust me, the anime was very good if standing alone but it's just a 5 compared to the light novel which is a 10. The story is very interesting based on a world where people can use magic and form a unique weapon from their souls called Device. The characters are very well developed through 3 major arcs (there are many smaller arcs in these 3), the romance is also very interesting. I mean, how many light novels or novels out there have the 2 maincharacters dating from volume 1? Moreover, their relationship developed in stages and pace like how a relationship should be in a real life. There are also a lot of side characters which are very cool and have solid backgrounds.
The fighting scenes which mostly focuses on martial arts are described wonderfully with beautiful illustrations. Most of the skills used in the stories do not exists but the description makes it very realistic and logical.
However, Stella's character design is a weak point for me because after volumes, her chest grows bigger in a strange shape which is very unrealistic.
Every major arcs in the series are developed very well with new side characters appear in every arcs, which makes the light novel's world deeper.
The next novel (vol 16) with a new arc should be a war arc, and of course a war arc will always be interesting so look forward to it
