Review of Steins;Gate 0
54th anime completed in 2024: Steins;Gate 0 I watched the original Steins;Gate years ago and it remained as one of my favorite anime series of all time. When assembling shows for the fully up to date to-watch list, I got reminded of this show by COMPLETE accident! It was not on my radar at all, but I am SO happy I was made aware of it and finally got around to watching it. I do kinda wish I had rewatched the original show before watching this, though. With a story and complex as this one, I think it definitely would've helped. But as soon as Istarted episode 1, I was immediately pulled back into this world and felt right at home with all these familiar faces and voices whom I had shared an absolutely incredible experience with in the past. For those who are unaware, this is a sequel/extension to the end of the original Steins;Gate. I can't specify more without spoiling, but I absolutely cannot recommend this to anyone as their entry way into the series. Please watch the original first. Or if you'd like to go a bit further, you can jump back and forth between the two shows, as I saw someone else recommend and as I thought to myself when wrapping up this series. I'll probably end up watching it like this sometime in the future, as well. But for those who haven't seen any of Steins;Gate and wanna use this method for your first viewing experience, here's the recommended viewing order:
1. Watch S;G 1-22
2. Watch the first half of S;G 23
3. Watch S;G0 1-22
4. Stop S;G0 23 at 18 minute mark
5. Watch the second half of S;G 23
6. Finish it with S;G 24 and last couple of minutes from S;G0 23
I really do feel like I may end up giving both series a perfect score after I rewatch them. But as it stands now, this still remains as one of my favorite anime series that I've only grown more fond of with this latest entry.
