Review of A Place Further Than The Universe

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho (2018) Honestly, I can say really the only thing I dislike about the show is the development of Megumi turning into a copycat and thus not changing at all really. With that said the rest of the show is beyond superb and even in episode 1 we get a great moment where you see a No Game No Life poster which was great for me since I love that show. You also get a legendary scene in episode 4 that isn't only a meme but commonly shown in various videos for a great moment that I still laugh at every timeI see.

The art of the show is a really great standard, especially for its style. I can honestly say it isn't a masterpiece of art but really fitting for the show. That said I am not sure how it will age in 10 years' time which is a shame since I loved the show.

The OP and ED are both powerful and emotional, absolutely worth your time to listen to each and every time. Generally, sounds and voices are great and they even have the nice sound of a ship breaking the ice, etc.

The characters are all wonderful and fitting in almost every way. Megumi is my only exception since despite her coming to a head and realising her faults she goes from wanting to lead to being stuck in followership. Perhaps she is just finding herself I don't know, she just wasn't important enough for them to clarify properly.

Overall, the show is not what I expected exactly, it is much more involved and emotional than I could have ever been prepared for. I kept putting off watching this for over a year, a decision I now regret. Don't make my mistake and watch this as soon as possible. It also a show that I never expect to see renewed again so you get closure.
