Review of My First Girlfriend is a Gal
There's a scene in episode five where three girls smash their boobs together to compare cup sizes. That is everything you need to know about Hajimete No Gal. There is nothing redeemable about this anime besides trashy fanservice. If you hate trashy fanservice, don't watch. If you like trashy fanservice, soldier on forward you man of culture you. Every episode features a handful of dream-like sequences where the main character imagines himself being seduced by his new hot girlfriend that he doesn't deserve. Scumbaggy? Probably. Entertaining nevertheless? Absolutely. It's harmless erotic fun that every healthy male entertains when they see a hot girl made extra sensualbecause anime.
The one thing you ask from an anime with a stupid premise is that it embraces it's stupidity and Hajimete no Gal does this well. There are several moments of outright hilarity because of how absurd the situations are and there's a level of self aware comedy that can be endearing to the viewer.
What is not endearing however are the male characters. They are the most pathetic excuses for testicles I've ever seen in anime and that's saying something. The main guy is a spineless virgin with no personality who's too scared to touch his attractive harem for whatever reason shared by 99% harem lead characters. He is friends with terrible people none worse than a fat pedophile who openly displays his desire to fuck kids. That is every bit as creepy as it sounds. I don't understand why they thought it would be a good idea to do this.
This is somewhat balanced out by a cast of gorgeous female characters. All of them are super hot and the anime does well to put them in super hot positions to the delight of the viewer. I swear every single time I thought I was getting bored with this anime there was a sudden ass shot to make me interested again.
As with all fanservice anime these days there's a chance the quality is upgraded when the blu ray is released. And by quality I mean the possibility of nudity so we may not have seen the best this anime has to offer quite yet, stay tuned.
Hajimete no Gal is everything it appears to be at first glance and it doesn't take much effort to know whether or not you'll like this anime. I mean literally, look at the thumbnail in the upper left hand corner. That's everything you need to know. Its solid if you just want some cheap laughs and hot ecchi moments but if looking for anything more than that you'll obviously be disappointed.
